I would suggest Lexia it looks good and makes it easier to read text. It was developed for dyslexics but I'm sure it would be beneficial to most. You can also use Calibri or Veranda.

There are some settings that should be tweaked. System Settings, Appearance, Fonts. Use Anti-Aliasing, configure. Make sure exclude range is not checked. Use sub pixel renering, set to rgb. Hinting style slight.

Yup, those are exactly the settings I'm using, and with them even the default fonts look just fine.

I'm a big fan of the semi-condensed versions of DejaVu. Here's what I do:

            1. Install ttf-dejavu-extra
            2. Run System Settings elevated (kdesudo systemsettings)
            3. Disable (not delete) the regular, oblique/italic, bold, bold oblique/italic, and extra light styles for DejaVu Sans and DejaVu Serif

The reason for disabling the regular styles is because many applications don't understand how to differentiate between those and the semi-condensed ones. By disabling the regular styles, the semi-condensed versions become the defaults for DejaVu.
