    No new User is active

    Hi

I wanted to give my wife the benefit of realising the pleasure of No-Windows and opened an account for her. It shows up in /home but not when I want to change the user. Still not after a restart.

    What could be the problem?

What exactly happens if you try to Log In by giving the new Username and Password?

      No problem here.

System Settings > User Management > User Accounts > New...
Type in the desired Login Name. Type in the Real Name. Click on Password/Security tab. Type in the password to be used. Click on Apply. Click on Apply and OK.

Then you just have to execute the Switch User form your running session and select your wife's account, type in her password, and bingo, her account is launched.

Did you set up the account using User Management within System Settings or use the command line?

          Thanks for your responses.

Yes, I tried exactly this three times, on different days and also with a couple of fictive other users. None of these attempts have worked.

This statement answers also nickstonefan's question.

To arochester: in the login-sceen is no possibility to log in with other users.
