Acer Aspire laptop running 12.04 with no known problems. Putting the system to "sleep" and waking it back up worked perfectly.
I installed 12.10 using the distribution upgrade tool. This preceeded normally with no errors noted, and the system ran perfectly after the restart. So far, so good.
After putting the system to "sleep" and waking it up a few hours later, I had no sound. I worked on this for a while with no success, so I purged and reinstalled PulseAudio. Sound came back!
But I have now determined that whenever I close the lid and later wake the system up again, there is no sound. The only way to get sound is to go through the purge again, or restart the entire system. Somehow, the hardware is not being reinitialized in 12.10, but this did work in 12.04.
Any suggestions?
