    jockey not working

Ive installed 12.10 as a fresh install on my laptop. When runnig jockey in order to install the proprietary driver for my AMD video card it does not search for available drivers at all and moast of the GUI is just empty.

Installing fglrx via Muon does not seem to do the job as I thiughts as when trying to run amdcccle afyer a reboot it will not start as 'a card has not been detected using this driver'.

I have done a complete reinstall but its the same as before.

    If you run
    Code:
    sudo jockey-text
from a command line, does that work?

      I get this:

      Code:
      kemra102@kaon:~$ jockey-text
ERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for AppIndicator3
      Additional Drivers
      Searching for available drivers...
      kemra102@kaon:~$ sudo jockey-text
      [sudo] password for kemra102:
ERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for AppIndicator3
      Additional Drivers
      Searching for available drivers...
      kemra102@kaon:~$
No luck it seems. Nothing pops up or anything.

        What's your graphic card?
AMD dropped support for HD4000 series and under, the driver for these cards is called fglrx-legacy and only supports xorg version 7.6 and bellow.

Ubuntu 10.12 has xorg version 7.7

I do believe it is a HD4000 series yes, which is a shame as it looks like AMD has hung me out to dry with support on a 1 1/2 year old laptop which sure is a real shame. SO it sounds like my only recourse is to go back to 12.04 and miss out on the advances of 12.10 or ditch Kubuntu altogether which is a real shame as I love it.
