UPDATE 26/3/13: it seems that an update has resolved this problem for me
I have a HP pavilion dm1 notebook with Kubuntu 12.10. She runs absolutely beautiful without too many issues.
Something that I cannot get sorted is the built-in webcam - HP TrueVision HD. I'm sure I have the drivers installed and at one stage it did work with Cheese, just never with Skype.
No it seems, the webcam doesn't work at all.
For the past few days I've been Googling and trying just about every solution but nothing works. Not even the LD=Preload etc command.
Skype does work with my usb Logitech webcam and I don't mind using it, it' just a pain in the you know what when I don't have the usb cam handy while answering a skype call.
Here's the output of lsusb (as far as I can figure out, my webcam is Bus 001):
