    Installed and working great

I installed 12.10 i386, daily build 29-Sep-2012, on September 29th on my Toshiba Satellite P105-S6147. It's the only OS on that laptop. I created a 2.2 GB swap and a 25 GB root, and the rest as /home. I opted to format the root and /home partitions as btrfs.

Everything on it is working like a dream (everything that I've tested anyway). Both sound and networking were setup 'out of the box'. Setting up my wireless was also without any problem.

I'm not going to 'upgrade' my main laptop -- HP Pavilion g7 -- yet. I'll wait until 12.10 is released 'final', and maybe even not until it comes out as 12.10.1.

But, Quantal Quetzal is looking mighty fine.

The dreaded LP bug 993187 (yes, I memorize bug numbers) appears to be completely eliminated in 12.10. Whereas I could routinely make my T520 freeze with reckless abandon on 12.04, on 12.10 the computer resolutely fails to fail. The very definition of progress

"fails to fail". Hmm. Wouldn't that be a failure?

Just did a new install using the 10/2 Daily Build. I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed. I've installed a large number of my usual add-on apps and done a few reboots and all is working like a charm. The only hitch I had was with Minitube. Even though the latest version (1.9) is in the repos, it still required the fix that was required in 12.04 for it to work properly. But it is working. I can find no fault with this build, so this is the one that stays on my computer and gets updated through the final release.

Is there any reason to be always trying the next daily build?

I usually upgrade but I don't think 12.10 is going to be a huge leap forward and I am very satisfied with 12.04.

Installing today's build and then dist-upgradeing tomorrow is nearly the same thing as installing tomorrow's build. That is, the versions of all the packages will be the same. However, I've seein instances of where something borks the automated build process and an occasional daily build won't install. So you download the previous day and then upgrade.

Larger point: no need to reinstall each daily build.
