    Playing Commercial DVDs in VLC

I've been using 12.10 for a couple of days now, and generally I like the changes. However there are a couple of things that are causing me problems. The most notable being, I am unable to play commercial DVDs in VLC. In earlier versions of Kubuntu, you could install the libdvd read4 and then VLC would play DVDs well (at least once you figured your device location). I've noticed in 12.10 that the libdvd read4 command doesn't work, it says it can't find the package. Does anyone know where I can find the package? Attempting to load the VLC plugins gives the same response.

Open a terminal window and enter the following commands:

    Code:
    sudo apt-get install libdvdread4
    sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
That should enable playback of encrypted commercial DVDs.

      Thanks, HalationEffect,

I appreciate it. I have those instructions written down, but had the spaces in the wrong place. If you notice in my first post I typed it the same way in the CLI.

Too old for this forum?? Pish and pshaw, I say!

(Hmm... amusingly, "pish" gets a red squiggly underline, while "pshaw" doesn't...)
