Can you run KDE Partition Manager (System > KDE Partition Manager) and take a pic of what is displayed (KSnapshot) and post it here? Also, open a console and type:
    Code:
    sudo fdisk -l
    Copy and paste the output.
Windows no longer obstructs my view.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007.

Not really sure how to take a screenshot of Partition Manager, but this is the output of fdisk:

I didn't mention that I have two HDDs and do a triple boot system. Windows XP, ZorinOS and Kubuntu 12.10. Zorin and Windows on the 160 gig Hdd and Kubuntu on the 40. I'll go look up the screenshot and get right back.

      Thanx,

Well that didn't work very well. Know any good ways to increase resolution and size of screenshots, without having to resort to an image editor? Basically the same info as fdisk except in a nice graphic format.

          sorry,

The 1st HDD has a Windows FAT32 partition (sda1), a Linux swap partition (sda2), an extended partition (sda3), and a Linux partition (sda5).
The 2nd HDD has a Linux partition (sdb1 -- root partition likely), an extended partition (sdb2), a Linux swap partition (sdb5), and a Linux partition (sdb6 -- likely /home).

I don't see anything 'wrong' here. The second HDD, which you have selected in the image, shows information I stated above for 2nd HDD.

              Snowhog,
I know the screenshot leaves much to be desired, but if you look closely, perhaps zoom in on it, you will plainly see that the disk is divided into two similar sized partitions, both apparently loaded with the same distro on it. I'm certain this is not normal. Here is a similar screenshot of my dolphin screen (with the two partitions and contents side by side) and maybe you will see what I mean.

I'm using the default screen capture program in the launch menu. Applications>graphics>screen capture program. Then saving the capture to my documents folder and uploading with the tool provided above the reply to thread window. Sorry about the resolution. Today is my first attempt at screen capture.

Can you post it to a picture site and link to it, or send me an email with the image file attached?

Sure I'll do that, but be advised, I looked at both images in Qwenview and digikam, and they are just as poor quality.

                      thanx,

                        You don't have KSnapshot installed?

Got the email. The two image files are good when shown full-screen in Gwenview.

The information 'as displayed' in KDE Partition Manager is, well, odd, and I'd ascribe it to a 'bug'. It 'shows' in the graphic image above, what looks like two drives, but that isn't the case. The tree information on that drive below the graphic is correct, and corresponds to what fdisk -l reports about the drive.

What you are seeing in Dolphin is also 'normal'. Dolphin shows Places and Devices. In the left pane, you are looking at root in Places, and in the right, the root partition shown in Devices. They are the same thing. Confusing, yes, and something I don't prefer, and that I wish the developers had not included.

It's a new install. Still tweaking, but to be honest, I've never messed with screen captures at all. I'm a dinosaur from the 80s just reintroduced to home computing. Before last year, my last computer was a TI 99-Pro-4A. With about a month playing around on a Mac se in between.

Yes, I believe I mentioned, shortly after joining the forum; I used to be a riverboat captain. Capt. Zero was my nickname, but that was in my misspent youth. Now the only difference between me and a raisin, is while we're both wrinkled and without a prostate, the raisin didn't didn't have a prostate to begin with.
