One way to pinpoint if the Google Chat issue is with Telepathy would be to see if video chat works in Google+ or via other online Google services like GMail. If not, the issue wouldn't likely be with Telepathy but if it does work with Google in general but not Telepathy then we maybe can get closer to an answer.
yes it works just fine in G-mail in firefox
just not in Telepathy
I Used telepathy for a while now. I am in China, Using QQ 2010 to connect to the QQ network. It has trouble connecting, the tencent security services just keep saying my account has been hacked ask me to unlock it but then Telepathy manage to connect a few seconds and then account is blocked again. It notably get blocked each time I connect to my VPN whiler connected to the service. I barely manage to get it working some times.
First time I try to report things, I ll install latest version asap, please tell me if anything needed.

Thanks, I already have already a good VPN for such problem so should not be a connection/China Firewall problem. I think the problem comes from tencent security validation that are badly (not) supported.
It was nearly the same with kopete I used before, but was better though since once I unlocked the account of tencent website it was working (was good for kopete not for telepathy)

Well, I think KDE-Telepathy has a lot of potential and I use it as permanently. However I miss a couple of things:
- The ability to change my status on specific accounts without opening the account manager.
- The ability to interact with Kaddressbook
Ok, here's another one, anyone else have this or know a fix?
when i close my contacts window kde-telepathy goes offline. I have to re-set it to online and it connects right back. but it takes me offline everytime i close the contact list window.

You should use the plasma-widget-telepathy-presence widget. Just place it in your system tray and you shouldn't lose your presence when closing the window.
