And by the way, about the Muon output. How can I copy the text from the message on the screen ?

There is a button above the reply box with a # on it. Click that to get code tags.

No, there's no (easy) way to copy text from a graphical app. They're easier to use when things are working, but text mode (console) is much easier when they aren't!
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

That is very very odd. Kubuntu 12.04, yes? I'm sure aptitude is available by default.

          Yes it's 12.04.
My guess is that I made a mess out of it when I didn't uninstall XBMC before installing Kodi. I do remember getting a message about changing some packages ...

Copy&paste text from the KDE/Qt widgets

            1) Select all

Click the right mouse button - Select All or Ctrl+A

            2) Copy

Click the right mouse button - Copy or Ctrl+C

The text should be in the Klipper for pasting.

            But

The command line will give you more information...

I'm checking my Software Sources to see that everything is okay.
Does this make any sense ? The main source at the top is not activated... this is the default
(I'm sorry for the screen capture, but this time there's no way to copy the page)

Not at my system at the moment, but that would seem like a pretty important source to include! Select it, update and try again.

                    It worked !!!!!
Kodi is installed now and working perfectly !!!

Many thanks to anyone who tried to help.

I'm still a bit puzzled about the software sources though. How could the default settings have the main source unchecked.

When you push the the reset button it takes it back to be unchecked while all the other sources are still checked.

                      Glad you got it fixed!

Your software sources thing is very strange indeed
