KMail can not send emails from GMail account

I was having Kmail working for several days until now. Very recently, the problem is happening when I am trying to send email from Gmail account using Kmail. I get a response as "Failed to transport message. Your SMTP server does not support PLAIN. Choose a different authentication method. The server responded Username and password not accepted. (I had also changed my gmail password recently, the new password has been inputted in the gmail account settings and I am able to download the incoming email messages using new password. Therefore, the change of password may not be a problem.

The authentication method is already changed to Clear Text in the gmail settings. Then what is the problem?

Try deleting and recreating the sending account. Press Auto Detect and allow KMail to configure itself.

      Dear Steve
Thanks for your help. I tried as per your guidence. For the first two days, Kmail worked fine and was able to send emails from the gmail account. However, third day onwards, for the last two days, it is back to the original status again, i.e. Not able to send messages. Obviously, one can not keep deleting account and generating it every time. Is it happening with every one or only with me? What could be the reason?
Has it got something to do with the fact that I changed my gmail password, both in the gmail account on web and also on the kmail? Exactly that point onwards, this problem started. Somebody can say that I am typing the password incorrectly, that is not the case since I am able to receive the incoming mails perfectly.

Are you sending your kmail generated msgs through your ISP's SMTP, or do you have gmail configured to act as an SMTP?

That's what I was asking. I have gmail configured to send my gmail to my ISP. I configured KMail to access my ISP account so I don't have to fetch mail from to separate accounts. Email a send from KMail has my ISP email address. Email I send from gmail has my gmail address.
