Help! Weird stuff is going on.

When booting up I get a warning "Cannot open ConsoleKit session: Unable to open session: The permission of the setuid helper is not correct.

I click OK and then it boots but it wants to remove a bunch of audio devices. I say no.

Also, now I don't show any of my drives in Dolphin. IF I go to the media folder I see folders of my drives but do not have permission to open them. If I plug in a thumb drive it does not see it.

This is a dual boot system with Windows 7.

What the heck is going on and how do I fix it.

    Any ideas?

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions, guys. Sorry I didn't get back here untill tonight. I got caught up in work and life.
Anyway, I tried all your suggestions but nothing worked. So, I'm running up the white flag and backing up my home folder. I'll install the latest version.

Thanks again to all of you for your suggestions,

I had to go through the package system repair steps and eventually rebuild the package list after removing the header, as suggested for some error at Kubuntuguide:

                http://ubuntuguide.org/wiki/Kubuntu_...roken_packages

                sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
                sudo apt-get update

                YMMV.

and the latest in technology such as two-way radios and e-mail.
