    Kernel Update

    Hey guys,

First of all, thanks for making Ubuntu with KDE (Kubuntu) I'm not such a big fan of GNOME.

I have noticed that Kubuntu 12.04 has Kernel 3.2 on it, is there a way of getting a more updated Kernel for it?

I can't use 13.04 because I use it for Android development and Google only supports up to 12.04.

    Thank

You can install a 3.5 kernel for precise, it's in the main repos but differently named (so that people can continue with the stock 3.2 kernel if they choose)

    More info:

EDIT: looks like you can also install a 3.8 kernel (*-lts-raring) if you wish

3.5 did not work for me, after upgrade it I get lots of messages saying an application crashed.

You can find newest kernels here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
For example, I am using kernel 3.8.13 32bit without any problems.

Just note if you update kernel you should update graphic drivers too.
If you use opensource drivers, this is a good ppa with the latest stable graphic drivers: https://launchpad.net/~makson96/+archive/mesa

That's certainly a valid option, but ppa kernels sort of defeat the purpose of sticking to stable lts releases (unless stability is not the reason one is running 12.04)
