    Shutdown problem

My laptop was shutting down fine until the end of February. When I click shutdown the screen goes black then my mouse pointer, which is visible for a few seconds disappears. There is hard drive activity and my wifi light blinks then stops but the machine doesn't go off. Google search shows some remedies but they don't work. Anybody else having this problem? Someone know what's causing this? Thank you.

From Ubuntu Forums, but it may be applicable here, as you do have a Nvidia graphics card.

The latest update to nvidia 304.88 from xswat has fixed the problem. Thank you for your help. I never thought a video driver could cause such issues.
