Hello,
I just had a major system slowdown. it's a celeron CPU dual core with 1.3 GB ram. and on idle i had almost 500MB of ram consumed and close to 50 % of cpu on both cores. add Firefox with a couple of tabs open to that and maybe some music and the thing slows down to a crawl. it wasn't like that before.
well i don't use kmail so i uninstaleld it and i had problem with noticatons about how it can't access personal contacts. this wasn't resovled even after kmail reinstal. so i dint' pay much attention to the message anymore. i tried to remove it but didn't manage to.
anyway there was 18 akonadi agent instances running most of those were personal contacts (i am guessing in kmail which i don't use).
for now i decided to stop and disable the service.
my question here is is something bad going to happen since i disabled it? and actually what services i will be missing? is there a way to check which applications use akonadi? what i read on documentations page there are some applicaitons that use it but i can not see any applicaiton menitoned that i use.
edit: now taht i think about it lately fan started to get very loud after some time. perhaps CPU was under load from Akonadi...
