Here are the basics: I'm running 12.04 and using Player 5.0.1. Today, for the first time, I cannot start my Windows 7x64 vm, because every time I try, I get kicked back to the GUI login. Here are the things I've tried:
1) Uninstalling and reinstalling Player,
2) Going back to a copy of my vm that I saved in December, when everything was working. (Actually, everything was working through yesterday.)
Today, just before I encountered this problem, my vm was radically slowed down because it was using 100% of the cpu, but for no apparent reason. So (because it's a Windows machine), I tried rebooting, which is when things got weird.
Any suggestions? Any print-outs or log reports that might help?
The only thing that occurs to me at this point is that 12.04 updates in the last day or two caused some incompatability with VMware, but that's just speculation.
Thanks in advance.
