User Pictures/images on KDM login screen

    Hello all!

I am using the Kubuntu Sitter theme for the kdm login screen. This allowes, in my opinion, a smoother transition for my wife when she inherits my Kubintu laptop shortly. I have two users on the system, my wife and myself. We both have user images selected, but they do not show up on the kdm login screen. We both have ecryptfs encrypted partitions for our home directories, so I suspect that is the issue.

Is there a setting somewhere I can have the user pictures appear on the login screen?

    The Image path

Yes that is probably the problem - The home is encrypted and so is the face icon.

The KDE system settings > Login Screen

    The Users tab:
    - Check that the User Image source is the System.
    - Pick the user
    - Set the Image - There should be password query - If not (1)

    - Click the Apply

The face image should be saved to the /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/faces/...

and the KDM theme should find the image.

    (1) Something to try - Start the KDE system settings or the system settings kdm module with the root powers (kdesudo systemsettigs or kdesudo kcmshell4 kdm).

      Oneline,

Thanks. That worked, but I wanted more. What happened is we both had the same image at the login screen, but different images on our desktops. So I selected User,System instead of User, and followed the rest of your suggestions and now everything is good!

      Thanks!

Some notes: the latest versions of kubuntu have switched over to lightdm by default (kde is also planning to switch to lightdm as well at some point, they already have a kde frontend to lightdm based on qml).

True, but every time I install lightdm and configure the system to use it, X won't start. This is with and without the kde greeter.
