    Amarok 2.7 for kubuntu 12.04 ?

Hi ! (sorry for my bad english)

I would like to stay with kubuntu 12.04 but I would like upgrade Amarok 2.6 to 2.7. I can't from kubuntu backports ppa because 2.7 it's only for 12.10

it's possible to make packages for 12.04, please ?

    thanks

I would be highly interested in 2.7 for Precise as well, but at the same time I am not expecting it. Maybe in time someone will get around to backporting it, we will just have to wait and see.

This may depend on what kdelibs version amarok requires. 12.04 might not have that.

I could be wrong, but I heard from a pretty solid source that it requires KDE 4.8.4 and QT 4.8. Not sure about the exact kdelibs version though. Regardless, it should be able to run on 12.04, although I am not holding my breath (I understand 12.10 & 13.04 are getting all the attention now days - nature of the beast ).

You are correct, I just didn't have a good opportunity to sit and check. In have not looked at how complicated Amarok is to package in a long time, it is probably just a time thing from the dev team's standpoint.

I am trying to see if copying the kubuntu-backports Amarok package to one of my PPAs and having it rebuilt for precise will be successful.

Hi (sorry for my bad english !)

for other laptop, I'm using kubuntu 12.10 with KDE SC 4.9.5 from kubuntu ppa. amarok 2.7 works fine.
for this laptop, I'm using kubuntu 12.04 with KDE SC 4.9.5 from kubuntu ppa too. kdelibs isn't a problem when you use kubuntu backports ppa

I try to install 12.10 amarok ppa backports packages under my 12.04. I have got a problem of dependencies with "libtag1-vanilla" et "libtag1c2a" library.

Yes, that 12.10,package is compiled using newer versions of those libraries than what is in 12.04.

Heh got out of work late then went to work early and did not check the build; but it did produce a package if one is willing to try it out (I do not have a 12.04 setup anywhere)

Lol that shows how exhausted I am, missing that. There is no package nepomuk-core-dev in 12.04. I would have to edit the packaging info, if it can be built using the nepomuk found in 12.04

get some rest,,,,,,,,I'm in the middle of a 400+ package upgrade (guess I haven’t been in 12.04 in a wile) will keep a watch to see if you get it built or not and will test it if you do

so not being the kind that likes to wait , I did a git clone and a .diff patch for mysql-pic (from the amarok install instruction page) then a cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX='kde4-config--prefix' -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=debugfull -DWITH_MP4=ON -DWITH_ASF=ON and finally a sudo checkinstall --install=no .

tryed to install the .deb with gdebi and got an error about not being abell to overwrite a config. I foolishly removed it all from my ~/kde/build & /src and then opened synaptic to reinstall the "normal" amarok ,,,,,,,and low and behold it's listing the git ver. that I thought had error'd out ?? SO of course I opend a konsole and issued a amarok ,,,,,and it launched
apparently I now have amarok-2.7-git
now my kubuntu-12.04 is running KDE-4.9.5 so your mileage may vary. I could build it all agin and save the .deb and serve it on my web page if any one wants ,,,,but you would prob be better off building it your self

I added a dependency on the kubuntu-backports ppa, and that seems to have been the key. i386 has built, the 64bit package should start building soon.
