Kate changes files to «closed» state

    Hello
I wanted to add some changes on my website. TheWeb is located at /media/anwender/arran_marketing/website_tourism_directory and contains about 10 subfolders and 30 html- and css-files.

When I open a file with Kate I get (not always) the message:

I suspect it is my way of using the HTML-possibility to use the maximum of 255 caracters per line. This streamlines a lot the search of some of my contents.

Interestingly, I can open and alter and save content even in so called «closed» files with KompoZer. However, I abandoned KompoZer, because this programs changes the concept of my lines and makes linebreaks when it wants and does not leave them where I need them.

I can not alter the blocked files, even when I open them via the Konqueror with adminstration rights.

All files are owned by root and the group is plugdev. However, I would like to change the owner from /arran-marketing (inclusive) downwards to «arran». I tried it with Konquerer, but to no avail and have no clue how to do it on the console.

    So my questions are:

    a) How can I tell Kate to allow longer lines to suit the maximal possibility HTML allows?
    b) Alternatively is there a different Editor without such limitations?
    c) How do I deblock the now write-closed files?
    d) Any ideas how to change the rights lik I described in the last paragraph above?

    Thanks a lot.

    Editor max line lenght

    http://olezfdtd.wordpress.com/2012/0...kate-and-kile/
    ...
    settings > configure editor > open/save

    There you can change the
    line length limit

The value 0 means that there is no maximum.
Hit Ok and you’re good to go again...

Root Actions servicemenu provides a convenient way to perform several actions 'as root', from the right-click context menu in KDE filemanagers...

      Hi Master Skribe

You helped me a lot, thank you very much. Despite all is now installed, I still can not change the ownership from «root» to «arran». But as long as I can work with the files, I can live reluctantly with this.

But at least I can open the files with the context menu and then start Kate as administrator. Actually I thought, that this is the automatically the case, when I open it with the Administator-Version of Krusader (the one with the red-yellow logo).

And I have in both Krusader-Settings a completely different left panel, much more like the one at Dolphin.

I also found what the message did: it changed the status of the file(s) to read-only, which could easily be changed in Kate.
