Muon update notification is wrong

I have a small problem with the Muon update manager. It always shows a red shield and the notification: "Last check for updates was over a week ago. Check for updates"

When I check for updates I get the same message.
I do get notifications for updates. When I install the updates I get the same message about needing to check for updates.

I don't see that anyone else has had this problem so far.

You can try purging and then re-installing muon-updater and muon-notifier.

sudo apt-get purge muon-updater muon-notifier && sudo apt-get --purge autoremove && sudo apt-get clean

Then re-install.

sudo apt-get install muon-updater muon-notifier

Somewhat of a guess... if you look in the /var/lib/update-notifier subdirectory, is the file updates-available present?

Yes, it's there. I don't know what the file is supposed to contain but if I open it with a text editor like Kate there is nothing in it.

My guess is that you both have the getdeb repository added in your sources... and (sadly) getdeb is no more.

If my guess is right, removing the getdeb repo should solve the problem.

I looked and getdeb.net is there, it was gone for a while. I did have to delete my original getdeb sources in my list and reinstall and it works fine.

Wow, I really didn't expect Getdeb to return, especially after reading the blog post by the guy running the show that basically said "this is the end". Colour me pleased!
