The wife's LTS precise 32 bit computer was still a trainwreck, needed reformat, reinstall and after a huge update then recovery fixed it
no thanks to your deletion for a wrong post I tried to delete.
That nss error is a terror until one finds what to do by oneself.
Recovery and its scripts are great.
