I have a folder of pictures that I'd like to display on my TV instead of or in addition to on the screen of my computer. I would guess that digikam has that capability somehow. My TV has an HDMI input and my laptop has an HDMI output. How can I go about it?

@hear if I plug a HDMI cord into the tv/monitor and then into the HDMI out on the computer a configuration dialogue will pop up on the screen asking if I want to configure the second monitor.
once configured you can just drag whatever program window you are viewing the pictures in to the second monitor

It's a multi-step process: Configure computer to use both monitors correctly then launch showphoto or digikam on the second screen. You can force it to launch there, but you may not want to if you're not connected all the time.
