    KDEnlive tutorial?

I bought a new camera that also takes video at 60 fps 1080p AVCHD. I tried to post something to YouTube, and while it uploaded, it took quite literally several hours to do so, and then playback was constantly paused to allow the download to catch up. The raw 3.5 minute AVCHD file was about 670 Mb in size.

I want to use KDEnlive to render it down to 30 fps 1080p, or maybe even 720p to allow easier posting to Youtube, but I am lost as to what to do. I tried rendering the AVCHD file to 30 fps mp4, but it was the same size. Surely it should have been at least half that size, no?

I tried rendering to a different output format (.mov) in 30 fps 1080p. The file GREW to over 1 GB!!

I also have a quad core i7 (8 threads), and I want KDEnlive to use at least 6 of those threads when rendering to speed up the process. Again, I thought I had that set up, but it doesn't seem to change the time of the render to any noticeable degree.

Anyone use this product enough to guide me through some of the setup?

    Thanks.

    Frank.

      Master Skribe:

Much thanks. The online manual appears to be much more complete than the dated one that comes from the repository. I'll have a further look this afternoon when I get back home. Thanks also for the tip on the KDEnlive forum. There should be a lot of good resources there.
