FTP authentication with dolphin and kate

I use dolphin and kate to edit and move files on remote servers using ftp protocol. I just upgraded to 12.04 from 10.xxx and now when I work on one of the servers it asks for authentication if I stop using the connection for a minute. I never had any probs with this server prior to the upgrade. Any ideas? It's very difficult to work like this.

Are you storing passwords in a KWallet?

No, I disabled Kwallet - I have never liked it. Do you think thats the problem? One thing I have discovered is that if I open files directly from Kate I don't have this issue.

Yep, Dolphin nees to store passwords someplace, and KWallet is the standard KDE mechanism for that. I'd recommend that you re-enable KWallet and set the wallet's password to be blank -- that's what I do. It behaves itself very nicely this way.
