knowit obsolete? What's a good substitute program?

I upgraded to 12.04 from 10.04.4 and discovered the note taking program "KNOWIT" no longer exists.

KNOWIT created *.kno files which were html based. Does anyone know of a suitable replacement program for KNOWIT or a program that can read KNOWIT's *.kno files?

    See Kjots

It's available in the repositories, so you can install it from the Muon Package Manager or from the command line using apt-get.
Using Kubuntu Linux since March 23, 2007

there is a deb file here. It's 32 bit but you can force install it if your using 64bit.

      http://knowit.sourceforge.net/download.php

download deb file and double click.

If your using 64bit open terminal.

      cd Downloads
sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture PACKAGE NAME

You should always research to see if you trust the package.

        thanks kjots works, but...
        1. after import there is no menu option to save as
        2. use quit, but changes are saved. can't revert back to original.
        3. now that I've imported my.kno file, I can't create a new file. Only my.kno appears.
        4. knowit's terminology of "Note" is equivalent to kjots "New Page"
        5. If you create a "New Book", this is in the context of the exiting file. It does not create a file.
        6. can't find the storage location for kjots

It's a bit of a challenge to learn kjots b/c I can't start a new file. Only my.kno file appears.

I'm going to try this, but I really must learn kjots. knowit is obsolete.

Well, I tried to install it using your suggestion and it failed to install.

            1. I downloaded the file: knowit_0.10-1_i386.deb
            2. sudo dpkg -i --force-architecture knowit_0.10-1_i386.deb
            3. output:
            Unpacking replacement knowit:i386 ...

            Errors were encountered while processing:

            So knowit remains obsolete.
