Too many authentication failures on brand new server

I have a brand new ubuntu server, but when I try to log in from my kubuntu box at home, I get the Too many authentication failures error. No one else had tried to log in yet, but I found that after I tried my friend can ssh in, and I can ssh in by sshing in to my old server, then sshing from the old server to the new server. I am not sure if this isolates the problem to my machine or the new server so I have posted on the ubuntu forums as well.

Purged ssh on my local machine, reinstalled it, tried to log in to the server as a user different then root, and still get the same error.

Now this is odd...I forgot I had putty installed. Normally I just use yakule(drop down terminal emulator) or konsole. Both of these give me the error with out even offering a password prompt. However, Putty is able to connect to the server directly with out going through a server to connect. So it seems the problem lies in konsole..

Got it, I had not told the config file to use keyfiles for specific domains so it was trying to use the keys instead of password.
