This might be the wrong place to post this. I have done some configuration to lirc on kubuntu 12.04 that I think other users might find useful.
I have this setup for a multi-user computer. Lircd still runs like normal, but lircrcd and irexec run as the individual users.
I have a script defined that starts irexec and lircrcd. This runs when a user logs in and logs out. This allows for an lirc config that is common to all users, and for additional lirc that is specific to each user. The login and logout scripts prevent each user from interfering with each other (only one instance of lircrcd and irexec will run at any given time), although I'm not sure how a program will respond to the method I am using. Additionally, I used the kde notifications to run the scripts when the screen is locked and unlocked.
How should I post what changes I have made?
