Dible and I checked out Brosix last year. Unfortunately, it was one of the messages that did not survive the data base crash that ocurred during the transfer from the SMF to our current vBulletin system. FORTUNATELY, the Brosix website captured our conversation and posted it on their website:
http://www.brosix.com/case-studies/kubuntuforums/
The situation may have changed since then, but one of the limiting factors in the use of Brosix that we found was that some of its features worked only for Intel video chips. That *may* be your problem.
Have you checked into Google's G+ Hangout? It allows up to 9 other people to have a video conference at the same time, including file transfer and screen sharing."A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”

WHY oh WHY are we running gui applications with sudo, or with root privileges?? Please do not, this can lead to permissions problems that could make it not login. Please DO NOT suggest to anyone to run a gui application with sudo, please!
now as to the brosix problem, the error could be that it is wanting to use a video codec/gstreamer plugin that is not present in Kubuntu. You might want to ask on Brosix's forums maybe as well.

Brosix installs and opens fine for me, on 64 bit. As this program is 32 bit, my ejumacated guess is something gstreamer related is missing, but what it is I do not know.

I just pointed out that he HAD run it as root no less .......implying it was a bad Idea !!
I wanted to know how he installed it as when I started to Gdebi was going to pull in 137 i386 packags (including the ones his output is complaining about.)
I thought maby he just unpacked the .deb and tried to run it because on the brosix website that was one method they described to do it
http://www.brosix.com/download/linux/ although they are talking about the .tar.gz I thought maby he had tried it that way.

Hello everyone, I have been working with the Brosix team, and they could not get it to work, so they asked the programers to fix it so that Kubuntu 12.04 will run it. I will let you know when the new version is out, this may be the best replacement for Skype so far, looks good on 10.04
