No Log In Screen After Removing fglrx Drivers

I manually installed the latest driver from the amd website, and wanted to revert to the Xorg drivers before switching to the amd drivers from canocial. But now when I reboot i get a grey screen, then black, then the kubuntu gear screen and then a grey screen with no log in page. How can i fix this?

I tried using the esc key to access grub since it does not usually show up during boot. No luck.

Hold shift for accesing grub menu. When/if you get to recovery mode, do

sudo updatedb
sudo locate fglrx

and try to post output

Thanks but I am a bit confused on how I get a rescue prompt since I cant do it via grub. I am using a USB drive to use kubuntu in a live enviorment.

I tried this again and I get a "boot:" prompt. I type rescue, and it says kernel rescue not found or something like that referencing the kernel.

And evebntually that loaded my kubuntu live cd(on a cd) with out touching anything. In the live desktop I mounted the SSD(boot drive) and searched for fglrx in dolphin. Heres the results: http://i.imgur.com/F5VdI.jpg

I found my way in to recovery mode on my ssd. I tried to drop to cli but it says to use root password or type Control-D, neither.seem to work.

I tried an old password and it let me in to a root prompt now. I tried to update grub but that didn't help.

Problem solved. Solution: boot to rescue mode, select root, and in the cli use:

sudo /usr/share/ati/fglrx-uninstall.sh --force

In this case force was needed because sudo removed some files but not all, and the uninstaller reverts to your previous configuration.
