KMail and Kopet don't wonts to connect to servers

    Hi everybody
i've got troubles with connection after yesterday upgrade (standart way by Update Manager).
nor Kmail nor Kopet can't establish connection to servers, meanwhile Reconq, Akkgegator, ktorrent, kget works fine.
i don't see kmail's (and kopete) process and in output of 'netstat -a'.
i deleted all accounts from Kopete, tried fill it again but it was ineffectually.
solution of 'remove/install' really dosen't work. reboot didn't help too.

has any ideas? well even the thought can help to fix
    thanks for attention

In a netstat output, you won't see KMail, but you should see Akonadi. As an example, here's mine. KMail, Telepathy, and Rekonq are currently open:

    Code:

as far as i understand Soprano's library is a part of Nepomuk? well, Nepomuk is up and running:
      Code:
root@sadir:/home/atmo# ps auxw | grep nepomuk

and some about akonadi from netstat:
      Code:
      unix 3 [ ] STREAM CONNECTED 12366 1876/akonadi_imap_r

and where to go at now?

Please run the Akonadi self test:

        1. Press Alt+F2 and enter kcm_akonadi
        2. Click the Akonadi Server Configuration tab
        3. Click the Test button
        4. Post the output of the test here.

This is somewhat confusing. KMail, Kopete, and KRDC will not connect to the network, but other applications do?

Please tell us more about how these applications are set up.

                  * What email server or service are you using with KMail?
                  * Which instant messenger service(s) have you configured in Kopete?
                  * What protocol and destination are you trying to reach with KRDC?

yes, as i've pointed earlier other network application suh as ktorrent kget and browsers works well. and I still have no idea what's going on
as far i can see (from cyrus's logs par example) it do not even attempt to establish a connection

                      good news is here!
                      after manual operations:
                      Code:
                      #apt-get update
                      ...
                      #apt-get upgrade
i've got whole KDEs are working fine at last.
but I am still puzzled about what happened.

thanks for attention and good luck

                        Glad it's working for you.

                        Two questions:

                        1. I see, in the quote you provided, a # prompt. Are you logging in and running as root for your day-to-day operations? If so, I'd advise against this. Running with elevated privileges all the time isn't required and exposes you to unnecessary risk. It also means, to an extent, that when you fire up a web browser, the Internet can become the administrator of your PC.

                        2. I am curious what upgrades might have fixed the problem. Would you please open /var/log/apt/history.log in a text editor, navigate to the date on which you performed the upgrade, and copy/paste the contents of what you see for that date? Thanks.

I just wrote this, not copy/paste. of course noone works with root's permissions.

well i forgot to say about key "-f install" yesterday, sorry,
i tried to install new skype4 (instead kopete, for conversation), but it won't to install without some software, and i must to install these libs. during installation dpkg requested fix some troubles, well i typed this command after apt-get update/upgrade. i think exactly this is key to resolve my problem.
i had to tell it, my post was not sufficiently detailed yesterday, my apologies again
