Skype Version 5

Has anyone been able to get version 5 to work on Kubuntu, I can use version 4 and it works great, but it will not allow more than 1 person in a video conference, and I need to have more than 1 person in a video conference, can anyone help or point me in the right direction, Thanks in advance Richard

version 5? They just very recently released version 4 for linux, there is no version 5 for us.

I've found that "Hangout" on G+ works nice for up to 10 simultaneous conversations, and it's free. It just requires a browser.

OT diversion... when I deleted all my social networking accounts, it felt sublimely liberating. What a massive time suck all that was, and I didn't even realize it until I escaped. It's like letting go of a cult!

That's true, you do. I have account balances in Skype, Google Talk and Diamoncard.us (from my Ekiga days).
What amazed me was how easy it was to link gmail and Diamondcard accounts to Jitsi, especially Diamoncard, which uses a numeric ID and Pin number in addition. I just gave it my google gmail address and password and my gmail contacts appeared in the contact list immediately. There is no import for Skype.

Well, sometimes assumptions rise up and bite you when you least expect it.

Jitsi pulled in Google Talk info instantly and populated the contact list with my GMail contacts. I then configured my Diamondcard.us SIP account.

I used my SIP account to call my wife just after I set it up and it worked fine. Tonight it occurred to me that I had never tried my Google Talk account through Jitis. So, I dialed up my wife, who was setting on the couch a few feet away. The connection failed the instant she answered her cellphone and a msg on the dialog screen said "... ICE failure...". It was an ICE failure only in that ICE failed to bind 55286/udp to 443/tcp.

That message is repeated for a variety of udp-->tcp ports.
