Libreoffice Impress Console Presenter gives Distorted Media Sound

I have been experiencing problems with mp4 files and AVI being played using the Libreoffice Impress Console Presenter. When playing a movie, the audio has a background crackle. This is not present when I disconnect my auxiliary monitor and use a single screen or when I play the media in the edit mode. I am using LibreOffice Impress 3.5.4~rc2 on Kubuntu 12.04. My Laptop is ASUS F3Jr with an ATI Radeon X2300 Graphic Processor and I have an auxiliary monitor attached.

This problem has been most embarrassing to me as I had a presentation in which I used Impress and it contained an mp4 video file that I had converted from wmv. I then had complaints about distortion and when I checked the files they were not at fault. No a good impression for Linux!!!!

It is claimed that this LibreOffice problem is in the radeon driver Bug Report Comment 39 and Following. A suggested solution was to reduce the display resolution. The auto resolution for my Laptop is 1280x800 and to remove the crackle I changed it to 1152x768. The secondary monitor has an auto resolution of 1280x1024 and I changed this to 1152x864. After doing this the crackle was viturally eliminated.

To resolve the source of the problem, I configured my Laptop to play an audio mp3 file using my built-audio as output with Audacity. I used Impress with Logitech USB speakers and set this to mute. When I played the mp4 media file with Impress using the Console Presenter, the Audacity output had the crackle in it. Some crackle was present even with some slide transitions.

To see if this is a problem with the Impress Console Presenter, I decided to play two different AVI files full screen on each display screen and listen to the Audacity output from the separate mp3 file. In this case there was no crackle and from this I conclude that the source of the problem is the LibreOffice Impress Console Presenter and NOT the Radeon driver.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so, please let me know.
