The same problem. I think it's a permission problem with: /var/tmp/kdecache-paco, /tmp/ksocket-paco and /tmp/kde-paco.
I have just installed a Dolphin addon (Root Actions Servicemenu) that works fine for me, so I don't need start dolphin with kdesudo anymore.

How were you starting kdesudo dolphin? Doing that from a command line is not recommended. Instead, use KRunner ([Alt]+[F2]).

Err...what now?

It's not recommended to use sudo to launch (KDE) GUI applications (as this can mess with ownership of user files), but when using kdesudo it shouldn't matter if you use a terminal or krunner.

Kdesudo dolphin brings you to the home of the root. I suppose for most people these maps will be empty. If you want your username's home you have to navigate to home/username
Starting kdesudo 'anything' from Konsole gives me always the same error messages kubicle reported, but no problems. I try to avoid it, using nano instead of Kate and Krusader as root instead of Dolphin. That way I'm not confusing a root action with my normal non-root use. Operating as root makes me nervous.

I once configured the root account (kdesudo systemsettings) to have tints of red (instead of blue) in the colour scheme so I know when a program was running as root
