Weird thing is, it worked just fine on my notebook. After trying a variety of installers I tried the dist-upgrade c/l option in apt-get and here's what resulted:
dep@dep-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

The following packages have been kept back:

dep@dep-desktop:~$
Anybody know a way around this?
