    Regards Dave.

    Hi, thanks for joining KFN.

It's helpful to have more detail. Can you quote the entire error message? Or, when the notification appears, press PrtSc to capture the screen, upload it to http://www.imgur.com/, post the URL for that here.

Hi davelectronic, Welcome to Kubuntu Forums!

Here is an older post that is marked solved. This may be your issue.
      Personal Contacts: Directory

If the directory .local/share/contacts does not exist you can create it by opening a console and typing:
      Code:
      mkdir .local/share/contacts
      sigpic

Thanks for your help, it appears it is conected to your older thread link about Akonadi.

So solved this issue but have another now /-: it looks like a bug won't allow laucher icons to be removed, i'm using Kubuntu 12.04 LTS so what ever KDE version this is, again it looks like a known bug.

The launcher icons i can't remove are chrome browser and dolphin file manager, Ubuntu is so much easier, again any ideas much appreciated. Thank you again for coming to help me with the original problem.

If you mean launcher widgets, make sure widgets are unlocked (right-click on desktop > unlock widgets)...locked widgets prevent accidental removal.

If the launchers are on a panel, open the panel pane (click the plasma icon at the end of the panel shown when widgets are unlocked) to remove.

EDIT: sorry, missed the part of 12.04 LTS (since this is on 12.10 forum), if your kde version is older than 4.9.1, you're likely suffering from this bug:

Workaround (mentioned in the bug report):
