    skype issues after reinstalling

Today I just reinstalled kubuntu 12.04 installed all the updates, tweaked the settings for preformance, upgraded my graphics drivers, added the backport ppa for kde 4.10, installed everything through the software center, had a heck of a time getting flashplayer to install, but it finally did. installed kubuntu-low-fat-settings, and now finally I need to install skype, so I went to the their website, because it wasn't in the software center, and downloaded their percise pangolin i386.deb file, and Qapt package installer is telling me, error: wrong architecture 'i386' anybody have an idea why? I don't recall this happening on my previous kubuntu installation.

Did Skype Drop Linux Support and Forget to Mention It?

It never did. I also tried to install Skype recently onto 12.04. I think something has changed on Skype's end. I sent them an email and never got a reply.

I had the same problem installing Skype with QApt on a 64-bit system, so I just popped open a terminal and tried using sudo dpkg <name of package> which worked perfectly. This makes me think it may be a bug in QApt rather than in Skype.

The best way to install skype is to:

1- Open "Muon Software Center" -> "Settings" -> "Configure Software Sources" -> enter root password -> Click on the "Other software" tab -> check "Canonical Partners"

          2- Muon will update sources.

3- Close "Muon Software Center" and open "Muon Package Manager" -> enter "skype" where you see "search" and press enter. -> choose "Skype (i386") and "Skype-bin (i386)" -> Click "Apply Changes" and Skype will install.
