    Can't find the directory widget

    Hello,

I have had to upgrade to this version of Kubuntu as my last computer finally died a death, (but I beat it to doing a full backup before it died he he).

One of the things I used a lot in the system tray was a little blue folder that sat next to the K button that when clicked gave you your top directory listing and you could click on a directory and go into it and so on. I found this very useful as it saved opening Dolphin most of the time.

I can't find it on Precise or amongst the widgets listing. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this widget?

I have found something called "Folders" in the widget listing available for install but it is nowhere as compact as the last one in v10.4

    Cheers

    Roy

The "Folder View" widget is the replacement. You can change where it starts and icon size to minimize the drop-down.

        Code:
        sudo apt-get install plasma-widget-quickaccess
should get it for you ,,,,then it will be in the "add widgets" list.

that is if you have the universe repo enabled !!

I think it must have been removed from the default installation a couple of releases ago.

I keep forgetting to use it but it's a great time saver when looking for files in your home directory. Although in true KDE style it seems you can configure it to open just about anywhere.

I put it on last night after my previous post along side folder view. I'd forgotten how much better it was.

I wonder, since folder view supports "Files by activity" features, if that's why it replaced quick access as the default during install.
