Kubuntu user switching does not work

Using KDE4.10, switching users does not work at all. Some Googling around told me that this is a Kubuntu specific issue.

Clicking KDE menu -> Leave -> Switch User results in Quicksand showing that there are 0 items (instead of items like switch user).
Can you tell me when this issue is going to be fixed and why this software without a working version of user switching was even released at all?

Well, all I can say, is that on my 12.04 KDE 4.10.0 install, switching users works just as it is supposed to.
