Hi,
I am using Kubuntu Precise 12.04. For the last one week or so, I am experiencing a very slow desktop for about 45 minutes - 1 hour after login. After this time period the desktop returns to its normal behaviour and runs normally thereafter. Earlier also I used to have this problem occasionally but it used to be solved by a reboot but now it happnes after every login. I have searched around the forums and found that disabling desktop effects may help but it has not worked. I do not know why it is happening. I am using an HP Probook with 4 gb of memory and i5 processor (it is almost 3 years old). One thing is that my battery is completely broken, could that be one of the reasons behind this? What could be the other possible reasons and how could it be solved?
