    Boot Issue; BIOS Change Its Own Settings ???

    Hello;

    I shutdown my computer normally yesterday afternoon. When I turned it on after work this morning, the BIOS booted normally, but the hard drive never booted the OS. The HD spins, but I just get a black screen without any error messages. I finally tracked it down to a BIOS setting for the order of the HDDs. Mind you, this is not the F8 Boot menu, but a sub-menu under it for the order of HDDs Well, the data drive was listed first and the OS drive second. I reversed the order and I'm up and running again. I don't get it.

    What would cause that setting to change? Even updates can't change BIOS settings. I know I didn't do it. Please advise.

    Could be that your motherboard battery is dead/dieing since this is the only thing that keeps the bios settings saved after you power down your computer.
