    flash plugin auto installer.

Kubu popped a "security update" today that was a flash plugin.

I did the update but got a message that it didn't work.

However, immediately thereafter, a little yellow lightbulb appeared in the panel and when I clicked it, I got the following text balloon:

Failure to download extra data files

The following packages requested additional data downloads after package installation, but the data could not be downloaded or could not be processed .... flashplugin-installer... The download will be attempted again later, or you can try the download again now. Running this command requires and active internet connection.

    Button: Run this action now.

Clicking the button automatically produced a terminal and this is the output of the terminal:
    flashplugin-installer: downloading http://archive.canonical.com/pool/pa...38.orig.tar.gz
    Installing from local file /tmp/tmpDsgdXC.gz
    Flash Plugin installed.
Looks like there is a BUNCH of automagical stuff goin on! lol

Hmm, I had a slightly different experience.

It was the same as your experience up to the point where you got a message saying that it didn't work - instead, Muon simply crashed. I re-opened it, and it immediately crashed again. Rinse and repeat.

Prevented Muon from crashing by going to the terminal and doing a sudo apt-get update. Then used Muon to remove flashplugin-installer, and replaced it with adobe-flashplugin & adobe-flash-properties-kde. All is now well.

Halation effect. Hmm. Thanks for the comment.

Are there others with an experience they might provide to the community?

I wonder if you're running a newer version of Muon than I am?

I have the stock KDE that is included with Precise (4.8.4), and version 1.3.1 of Muon.

Huh, so much for that idea. I'm running a different kernel (3.5.0-4-generic from Xorg Edgers), but I don't see how that would be the reason for the different experiences.

My experience was identical to yours, woodsmoke!
