    KDE 4.9 Issues

I am thinking of upgrading to 4.9 and I have a couple of questions:

    1) Has anyone had any issues with upgrading to KDE 4.9?
    2) If I upgrade and I want to go back, is there a convenient way to revert back to 4.8.4?

    #2
as to #1 only this http://www.kubuntuforums.net/showthr...ith-KDE-4-9-00 for me

as to #2 install "ppa-purge" sense you will be getting it from the backports-ppa ........use at your own risk !!
I had to use it once and a LOT of my apps got removed along with the stuff from the ppa in question ...but I was able to recover

1 - As a possible long term thing I haven't seen any major issues. No problem since the upgrade and the changes are fantastic. Lots of bug fixes and its a lot more stable. A lot of the desktop effect problems have been solved and Kontact saw some nice fixes. Activities have been massively improved although I honestly can't say I use them. The only issue I have seen is one that I had in 4.8.3

2 - No easy way to go back but you can.

                Hello:
                I do have a problem:
After the upgrade all my 4 desktop were back to that ugly grey striped standard background. So, I had to reattribute on three desktops the picture I want there. My real problem is, that on the Desktop «Graphic» I need no picture but just a background. This is mainly, that I prefer Gimp in multiple windows mode and not the One-Windows mode. But having a uneven background is not really helpful. So I managed with the function «Muster» (first picture) to make a decent background, but not just a plain color.

This is a picture with kde 4.8.2 from Mint KDE

Now, in the new 4.9.00 there are missing a whole lot of choices.

As can be remarked the old version had nine selections, the new one only four.

Just to prevent any questions, I had the larger number of selections in Kubuntu 4.8.<9

At the moment I put in a colour, but I would prefer to get myself my usual background back.

Thanks in advance for any good hints.

I believe that this is related to desktop containment type, i have also this choice available.

What does Desktop containment type mean?

I believe that sumski is referring to the 'Layout' of the desktop.

                        Layout (Containment)

                        Default Desktop
                        Newspaper Layout
                        Folder View
                        Search and Launch

Thank you. I now installed plasma-wallpapers-addons and all choices are back.
But why was it uninstalled during the update to 4.9.00?
