    Desktop

I have just installed Kubuntu 12.04 and updated it. I use Kubuntu on another computer and am familiar with it. On this computer it seems that my desktop is not Plasma. The desktop has a panel at the top which I cannot move. It has the facility for adding widgets to the desktop but there is little else I can do.

What is this? How do I use it? How can I get rid of it and go back to the plasma desktop.

    TIA

    Alan.

Is it a comparably smaller screen? Apparently you are running the netbook mode. Go to system settings (either through the desktop icon or by Alt + F2 -> systemsettings), in the section 'Workspace Appearance and Behavior' go to 'Workspace Beahavior' -> 'Workspace', in the 'Workspace Type:' drop down menu choose 'Desktop', hit 'Apply'.

Thanks for your reply. I had to re-install so the problem went away.
