    crash report errors

So, I decide to install Kubuntu 12.04 on my Big Iron Windows machine. Installation goes easily enough. (I've done this much with previous versions.) I have to call my son to ask why it identifies sda1, sda2, sda3, sda5, and sda6 but not sda4. He's a little vague about it too but we settle on an answer and I proceed.

Install finishes OK. Dual screen configuration is a little screwy but I can work with it. Install synaptic because I have had problems with muon in the past. Then decide to boot back into Windows to get some work done.

Tell Kubuntu to reboot. A message pops up that Jockey has crashed and would I like to send a crash report. I have no idea what Jockey is but, yeah, OK. Feelings of impending annoyance because I have seen this before. It thinks for a while and then says it needs some icons installed, is that OK. Yes, install icons. Then it says it needs to update python and something else. Yes, update.

THEN IT SAYS IT CANNOT UPDATE BECAUSE I HAVE NOT PROVIDED PERMISSIONS. WELL, IT DIDN'T ASK FOR PERMISSIONS. AND IT GIVES ME NO WAY TO GIVE IT PERMISSIONS. AND THEN IT SAYS MY CRASH REPORT IS WORTHLESS AND I SHOULD GO STUFF MYSELF!

I wouldn't mind helping. Who designs this stuff so that it can't be helped?
