I am now testing width "disabled usbmouse support" in BIOS.
If I disable "keyboard usb support" keyboard is not working in grub2.

ps: bios is beta, it gave am3 support for my am2+ gigabyte mobo

If you can, reset your BIOS, and try again, and if it's not working, try to reset the settings of Kubuntu in the keyboard section.

i do not believe problem is BIOS. something width usb... "resetting" keyboard won't help mouse
        maybe kernel?

I just started having this same issue with my USb mouse...in this case a cheap targus wired mouse. Sometimes, the light under the mouse flashes, an once I got it work again but in leaving my PC on last night I awoke to it not working again. My KB is PS2 so it is not affected.

I had assumed it was a bad mouse and ordered one from Toiger Direct this morning....But in reading this it appears it may not have been broken (which is highly unlikely anyway...)

            * Update * I launched by ASUS bios and selected "Restore Optimized Defaults" and re-booted. Mouse is working fine again.

                31.05.2012. 17:26:53 ubuntu kernel [ 0.799840] ehci_hcd 0000:00:13.5: applying AMD SB600/SB700 USB freeze workaround

finally i read logs after new kernel
even after fix i am getting non responsive usb devices sometimes
maybe it is time to buy new mobo (without sb600/700 chipset !), memory is cheap now
