Hi, it is a loooong time since I posted - I have found that in order to do something worthwhile I need to stick to LTS versions and not experiment.
So at the moment I use one 8.04 and three 12.04 PCs. (+ W2000, XP and W7)
From my old experiences I still _can_ do the editing system files version of the SAMBA network in order to change the user group and such things. For the 8.04 PC that's probably what I will have to do if I want to change things.
However, as I get accustomed to the modern Kubuntu, I am looking for a useable GDI SAMBA management. I've tried searching this forum, but get an overload of postings that tell me more than I need - and more than I am able to digest.
So, perhaps some of you can point me in the right direction, so that whatever operating systems I use at the moment, I can also do the networking.
