SD Memory Card Reader not working on HP Compaq Presario CQ57
I'm not sure why we're looking at USB readouts if it's not a USB device. How about the output of: lspci
well I thought his HP might act like mine .

Oh, I see. I had no idea that some card readers drop completely off the USB list when not in use. Mine is always present - but then I'm using a desktop computer so maybe that's part of the reason for the difference.
The web searches I did on that model HP came up with some Ricoh pci connected card readers that have problems. Likely when the OP returns to the thread that's what we'll find to be the case.
