K3B not burning dual layer DVDs

I have not been able to get K3B to burn a dual layer DVD.

I've looked around on the net, and there are conflicting posts about yes, no, maybe, Gnome vs KDE.

There is nothing extra to add in synaptic.

So, just a question any comments?

I have burned to dual layer DVD's with k3b in 11.10 .....but I haven't tried sense upgrading to 12.04 ............perhaps I should check!!

do you have plenty of space in / for the /tmp file ......... you can change the location of where K3b wrights it to if that turns out to be the prob.

          Hi,
          thanks for the replies guys.

The temp file, as stated at the bottom right of the K3B window is "Temp: 5.6 GiB of 11.3 GiB, that would seem to be more than enough, because the program "switches stuff in and out on the fly" doesn't it?

or maybe I should change the temp file to say 9 GB since the dvds are 8.5 GB? Dunno....

The "settings" are just default settings. It burns a normal DVD so...don't know.

not sure about burning (maybe it dose move things in and out I should have looked at that wile it was working ....I will tomorrow and post back) BUT during a copy it DOSE knead to be as large as the file as it gets written to /tmp first ...................

hmmm ok.... as large as the file...

But, I've fiddled around and can't seem to find a GUI way to change the size of the temp file, it is probably one of those yeech.... CLI things!

you cant change the size of the file it's self .........you half to point the default temp directory (K3b>settings>configure k3b>Misc>default temp directory)to a place that has that much free space .

I use the default /tmp/kde-vinny/ as I have 11Gig free in / but as you can see hear
                vinny@Vinnys-HP-G62:~$ df -h
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
                /dev/sda2 21G 8.9G 11G 46% /
                udev 1.9G 4.0K 1.9G 1% /dev
                tmpfs 751M 900K 751M 1% /run
                none 5.0M 0 5.0M 0% /run/lock
                none 1.9G 88K 1.9G 1% /run/shm
                /dev/sda3 196G 175G 12G 95% /home
                /dev/sda7 186G 124G 54G 70% /media/6d8f8f09-a999-4405-ad9a-e0df9224a3ba
I could point it to a directory in /dev/sda3 or /dev/sda7(as long as its mounted) and would have the space I kneed.

I am burning one again now and K3b dose NOT seem to be writing anything to /tmp wile burning an existing .iso to disk ................ IS that exactly what you were doing ?

                    All that CLI stuff .....

As to what I was burning, I was originally trying to burn a copy of a DVD movie. But then i tried installing an .iso on it and no go, then I tried just saving a folder with three documents in it, less than a coupla thousand bytes.

So, I think it is not the "size of the temp file" so much as it just doesn't want to burn to a dual layer DVD, although it correctly recognizes it as a dual layer, etc.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling K3B so, don't know. It is a "New Technologies" so it may just be something about the drive itself.

thanks for the help guys, but this is probably one of those no-fixers.
