    Issues with Nvidia Driver

    Hello

Actually I have a GeForce Go 6150 graphic card and when I'm working on my laptop suddenly it turns to black screen and I have to restart the pc.

When the pc turns into black screen any key button works, I have to unplug the battery and plug in again to make the restart

I tried with both available drivers (The nvidia-current package and nvidia-current-updates) and I have the same issue

This happen randomly, sometimes 5min or 15min or 30min after I started to work.

I hope you can help me with this issue

Are you sure it's the software? I've had to trash two HP laptops, both with nVidia chips, because they were inadequately cooled. They overheated, causing the graphics chips to become unsoldered.

The reference of my laptop is a DV2410US and I had thermal issues before, I sent it to HP by warranty and the issue was solved. Since that repaired, the laptop has not turned off again for overheating. Besides when I started to have overheating inconveniences, I bought a cooler base that I'm still using,

And now that you tell me about it; I had checked the temperature in the Nvidia Server Settings and is stabilized around 75C (167F) and I remember when the pc shutdown for overheating the temperature was about 115C (240F).

For this reason I am sure that is a software or driver issue

Are you using the desktop effects? With xrander or opengl? The current driver version has a bug that can cause some freeze with some cards. And despite there is a new version in Nvidia site, it is still not compiled for precise . Maybe using xrander it no more happens.
