Permission problem using wireless scanner Brother MFC-J625DW

Our newly installed wireless Brother MFC-J625DW printer & scanner works fine with my
desktop as a normal user with Kubuntu 12.04 but the we need to use "sudo" to use
the scanner (printer OK) on my wife's Accer laptop also running Kubuntu 12.04. I can not
find the correct file to change permissions. Everything I found so far is for usb
    connected scanners, not network scanners.

    mary@mary-acer-laptop:~$ scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).

    mary@mary-acer-laptop:~$ brscan-skey -l
    BrotherScanner : brother4:net1;dev0 : 192.168.1.126 Active

    mary@mary-acer-laptop:~$ sudo scanimage -L
    device `brother4:net1;dev0' is a Brother MFC-J625DW BrotherScanner

She belongs to the scanner & saned group

    mary@mary-acer-laptop:~$ id
    uid=1000(mary) gid=1000(mary) groups=1000(mary),4(adm),7(lp),20(dialout),24(cdro m),46(plugdev),
    100(users),107(scanner),114(netdev),116(lpadmin),1 18(admin),123(saned),124(sambashare)

Cups & Printing works OK, the permission problem is only with the scanner.

    thanks

    joe
